Chris Wade- bringing global comms team to full strength

LONDON — WPP today announced that it is strengthening its corporate communications team with the appointment of Chris Wade to the new post of Head of Communications, WPP EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

Reporting to Feona McEwan, WPP’s Group Communications Director, Chris will be based in London and will work closely with WPP CEO, Sir Martin Sorrell and other directors.

Commenting on the appointment, Sir Martin Sorrell said, “Media interest in our industry in general - and specifically in WPP - has risen sharply in recent years in the Central and Eastern European, Russian, African and Middle Eastern markets while demand for comment, contribution and engagement from the UK media is at an all-time high."

Chris will be responsible for handling the company's media relations across all platforms in the EMEA region and for developing a wider understanding of the Group's initiatives.

As a member of WPP's global communications team, Chris will work in step with Belinda Rabano, based in Beijing, who handles WPP’s corporate communications in Asia Pacific and Kevin McCormack, based in New York, who handles WPP’s media relations in North America. Like the rest of the team, he will also contribute to and support the Group's internal communications.

Chris brings a wealth of experience with him. He joins from Guardian Media Group, one of the UK's leading multimedia businesses, where he has spent six years in corporate communications, latterly as Group Director of Communications. Before GMG, Chris spent six years with Trinity Mirror plc, ultimately managing the press office function.

The appointment is effective from mid-May.
