VML: Ziploc’s Preserved Promos
Giving expired savings a fresh new life
Ziploc has always been about preserving what matters, from keeping food fresh to helping families manage their budgets. However, consumers often face the frustration of valuable food coupons expiring before they can be used, leading to missed savings.
Ziploc saw an opportunity to turn this common disappointment into a clever solution, demonstrating its brand value by giving these expired promotions a second chance. The challenge was to create a seamless experience that not only revived lost savings but also reinforced Ziploc's role in smart household management.
Teaming up with VML, Ziploc engineered an innovative commerce experience called "Preserved Promos." The idea was simple: shoppers could upload a photo or screenshot of any expired food promotion, and in return, they would receive an extended offer on their next food purchase. The best part? To unlock this deal, customers simply had to include Ziploc products in their cart. Executed through a seamless, mobile-first design, this frictionless process allowed consumers to quickly upload their expired coupon, with the system automatically validating the offer and applying a discount at checkout.
The Preserved Promos campaign delivered remarkable results, proving its dual power to benefit consumers and retailers alike. It achieved a significant +61% share of voice, dramatically increasing Ziploc's presence in market conversations. The campaign also attracted a substantial +14% in new buyers, demonstrating its effectiveness in expanding the brand's reach.
By enabling over 80 retail partners across 65,000+ stores to retain customers through renewed savings, Ziploc didn't just give coupons a second life; it cleverly cemented its position as an essential tool for smart household management.
