Ogilvy: Girl Up’s Today We Rise

Saluting a pivotal moment for future generations of girls

The swearing-in of Kamala Harris as Vice President of the United States was a ground-breaking milestone and a particularly inspiring moment for young girls everywhere as Kamala became the first woman, and the first Black or Asian person, to hold the office.

To capture the impact of this historical event, Ogilvy partnered with Girl Up, the gender equality youth initiative of the United Nations Foundation, and Refinery29 to create “Today We Rise”, a film that went straight into homes across the U.S. just hours after the ceremony to show the impact of the very moment itself.

Girl Up changemakers can be seen in the video watching the footage. Through their eyes, viewers can see what it meant for the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants to become the highest-ranking female politician in American history. ‘Today We Rise,’ illustrates the immeasurable impact that these scenes will have on generations to come.
