WPP agencies sweep 2014 Agency of the Year Awards in Asia

Mindshare, Y&R Earn Top Marks in Greater China, India, Southeast Asia

WPP agencies have swept the 2014 Asia Pacific Agency of the Year awards, highlighting the group’s continued strength and depth across the high-growth region, including the key markets of China, India, and Southeast Asia.

Collectively, WPP agencies took home the top prizes in 49 regional and local market categories. Ogilvy & Mather led the awards haul, capped by its title as Asia Pacific Creative Network of the Year. WPP’s activation unit Geometry Global won Specialist Agency Network of the Year for Asia Pacific. Meanwhile Mindshare’s regional network and strength in China and India in particular were on display, while Y&R continues its resurgence with a strong showing in Greater China and Southeast Asia.

Greater China
In Greater China, WPP’s largest market in Asia and its third largest globally, WPP agencies dominated the awards. O&M was named Creative Agency of the Year and Digital Agency of the Year; while Mindshare won Media Agency of the Year. Y&R won China Agency of the Year.

South Asia

In South Asia, another critical growth area for WPP, it was a near repeat of the China story. O&M won Creative Agency of the Year and Mindshare that of Media Agency of the Year; the two agencies both won the top award for Digital Media Agency of the Year. Geometry Global took the honors for Specialist Agency of the Year. Maxus won Media Agency of the Year for India.

Southeast Asia
In Southeast Asia, Mindshare won Southeast Asia Media Agency of the Year, as well as in Malaysia and Vietnam. Y&R won Southeast Asia Creative Agency of the Year, in addition to Agency of the Year for Thailand and Indonesia. XM Gravity, part of the JWT group, was named Indonesia Digital Agency of the Year; while mInteraction, part of GroupM, took home the same honor for Thailand.

In addition, Mindshare won Gold as Media Agency of the Year in Japan, while Synergy Hill+Knowlton Strategies Korea won the top honor as Japan/Korea PR Agency of the Year.

WPP’s deep talent bench across the region was also recognized, with our people winning across many categories.

Organized by Campaign Asia-Pacific, the Agency of the Year Awards recognize “inspired leadership, management excellence, outstanding business performance and overall achievements in advertising and communications industry across Asia-Pacific”.
