GIZMOLOGY is a hands-on creative technology apprenticeship programme for high school graduates and underemployed adults in Pittsburgh’s Black community.
Operating out of Deeplocal’s joint studio and production shop in Pittsburgh, PA, USA, GIZMOLOGY offers compensation, benefits and training in mechanical design, technical integration, technical assembly, exhibit fabrication and creative technology – with no advanced education required.
Apprentices gain industry-recognised certifications, experience working on real-world, interactive projects for global brands, and the opportunity to transition to full-time employment at Deeplocal or other local tech companies.
GIZMOLOGY is about advancing racial equity inside Deeplocal and WPP through on-the-job training and mentorship, preparing apprentices for a future economy that is driven not just by technology, but by creative technology. Beyond traditional vocational training, GIZMOLOGY is a point of entrance into disciplines that are relevant for technology companies, advertising agencies, design firms and more.
The programme’s scalable format and curriculum will also serve as a roadmap for WPP agencies to adapt in other markets.
