Deeplocal: GIZMOLOGY

GIZMOLOGY is a hands-on creative technology apprenticeship programme for high school graduates and unemployed adults in Pittsburgh – the United States – for Black and historically marginalised communities.

Operating out of WPP’s Deeplocal’s studio in Pittsburgh, GIZMOLOGY offers compensation, benefits, and training in mechanical design, integration engineering, software development, technical assembly, and exhibit fabrication—with no advanced education required.

Apprentices gain industry-recognised certifications and experience working on real-world, interactive projects for global brands.

GIZMOLOGY is about advancing racial equity inside Deeplocal and WPP through on-the-job training and mentorship, preparing apprentices for a future economy that is driven not just by technology, but by creative technology. Beyond traditional vocational training, GIZMOLOGY is a point of entrance into disciplines that are relevant for technology companies, advertising agencies, design firms and more.

The programme’s scalable format and curriculum will also serve as a roadmap for WPP agencies to adapt in other markets.
