Digital Concert Hall

Live music on the internet? Done. Live classical music? It's there if you look for it. But live-concert streaming, for a global audience, with CD-quality sound, in a high definition video format, on a digital platform, dedicated to arguably the world's best orchestra? Well, that's never been done before.

The Berlin Philharmonic were already pioneers - producing the first classical CD, for example - so it made sense that they performed in the world's only digital concert hall. The orchestra's real venue, designed in 1956 by Hans Scharoun, was wittily adapted for the web. Flash animation allowed for audience personalisation, textural detailing, and other surprises.

Users could subscribe to the site, or purchase a one-off show. Either way, watching this unique experience unfold, there's little doubt that every single seat is the best seat in the house.
