Old phones give new life.
For anyone who considers mobile phones a hearing affliction, here’s a cheering tale. In Thailand they become hearing aids.
dtac, a telecommunications network, together with Dentsu Y & R Bangkok, knew that in a developing country hearing aids are expensive, depriving so many of a normal life. So they created the Rebirth of Sound project, asking people to donate old mobile phones as they got new ones.
Parts like earphones, speakers and circuit boards went straight to creating basic but effective hearing aids for those who could never afford the standard models.
Untrendy and worthless the old phones may have been, but the new life of sound they bring to the less fortunate is priceless.
