Golden Weeks: China’s shopping phenomenon 

A new report produced by a team of WPP companies, The Chinese Golden Weeks In Fast Growth Cities, reveals fresh understanding of consumer attitudes and behaviour during the holiday shopping frenzy. Original research undertaken specifically for the report includes ethnographic research from Added Value and quantitative findings from Millward Brown. The study was informed by WPP’s BrandZ™, the world’s largest source of brand equity knowledge, together with insights from CNRS-TGI, Hill+Knowlton Strategies, Kantar Worldpanel, Millward Brown, Mindshare and OgilvyAction.

The leading digital agency is opening two new offices in Atlanta, Georgia and Portland, Oregon. With the additional presence in Atlanta and Portland, AKQA now has five locations in North America and ten offices globally.

Xaxis launches in Malaysia 

Xaxis has announced the launch of operations in Malaysia. Arshan Saha will lead the new office as director, Singapore and Malaysia.

Smollan and Headcount join forces 

Smollan Group, based in South Africa and now working across five continents, has come together with Headcount, which has been successfully operating in the UK and with partners across Europe since 1994. The resulting new company – Smollan Headcount – is a field marketing agency that offers clients the best of global and local.


GroupM forecasts 13.4% ad spending increase for China in 2012 

Despite uncertain outlooks in both the Eurozone and the US, GroupM projects that measured media advertising spending in China will increase by 13.4% compared to 2011 to reach RMB 394 billion. The forecast was made in GroupM’s This Year, Next Year: China Media Forecasts report. The study is part of GroupM's media and marketing forecasting series drawn from data supplied by WPP's worldwide resources.
