Switzerland leads best countries ranking
According to WPP’s 2018 Best Countries Report by U.S. News & World Report, Y&R’s BAV Group and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Switzerland held its position as the number one country in the world. Now in its third year, the rankings evaluate 80 countries across a range of criteria, from economic influence and power to citizenship and quality of life.

Superunion launches as next-generation brand agency
The new agency brings together five WPP agencies – Brand Union, The Partners, Lambie-Nairn, Addison and VBAT – and is led by Global CEO Jim Prior and Simon Bolton as Executive Chairman. Superunion has a network of 750 people, with 23 offices in 18 countries, and client billings in excess of $100 million worldwide.

Lenovo is top Chinese brand-builder
The BrandZ™ Top 50 Chinese Global Brand Builders 2018 Report released by WPP and Kantar Millward Brown, in collaboration with Google, reveals Lenovo as the best-performing Chinese brand. The remaining top five spots are taken up by Huawei, Alibaba, Xiaomi and Air China.

Burson-Marsteller Sport unveiled
Global strategic communications and public relations firm Burson-Marsteller has announced that it has fully integrated its specialised international sport consultancy firm, TSE Consulting, and formed a new unit, Burson-Marsteller Sport. Headed by former TSE Consulting Managing Director Lars Haue-Pedersen, the new sports division will operate from Lausanne, Switzerland.

Kantar Media launches digital ad solution
Leading media intelligence firm Kantar Media has announced the launch of its new Digital Advertising Intelligence solution, bringing together paid and organic search, and digital display advertising data for the first time in the UK market. The innovation from Kantar Media will help brands better understand their share of voice – and that of competitors – in the online search and advertising landscape.

Essence expands across APAC
Global data and measurement-driven agency Essence has announced the opening of new offices in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Jakarta and Melbourne, bringing its APAC office count to 10. Melbourne is the agency’s second office in Australia following its 2016 launch in Sydney, while the launch of Essence Jakarta marks the agency’s entry into the Indonesian market.

SAP crowned most valuable German brand
Enterprise application software from SAP leads the first BrandZ™ Top 50 Most Valuable German Brands ranking released by WPP and Kantar Millward Brown. SAP topped the ranking with a Brand Value of $48.9bn, followed by Deutsche Telekom at $39.2bn. Car brands BMW and Mercedes-Benz took the third and fourth spots at $24.6bn and $23.6bn with the final place in the top five taken by logistics giant DHL at $18.3bn.
