WPP appoints first UK Country Manager
Karen Blackett, currently Chairwoman of MediaCom UK, has been appointed to the newly created position of UK Country Manager for WPP. In the role she will focus on WPP’s core strategic priority of horizontality: ensuring our companies work together effectively and present a seamlessly integrated and simplified offer to clients. The UK is WPP’s home market and the Group’s second largest worldwide, with revenues of approximately US$3 billion and nearly 17,000 people. Commenting on the appointment, Sir Martin Sorrell described Blackett as “an exceptional and inspirational leader” and “a tireless champion of diversity in our business, in the wider sector and in public life in general.”

WPP named Partner of the Year by Adobe
Adobe – WPP’s largest marketing technology partner – has named the Group as its Global Digital Experience Cloud Solution Partner of the Year. It is the first time that WPP has won the award, demonstrating that clients increasingly turn to WPP and its agencies as the natural partners for marketing technology implementation.

Louis Vuitton leads first French BrandZ ranking
Luxury brands dominate the first BrandZTM Top 50 Most Valuable French Brands ranking released by WPP and Kantar Millward Brown. Louis Vuitton topped the chart with a brand value of $35.5 billion, followed by Hermès at $26.0 billion and L’Oréal Paris with $24.5 billion.

Kantar unveils specialist growth consultancy
WPP’s data investment management division, Kantar, has launched Kantar Consulting, a specialist sales and marketing consultancy designed to “switch on growth” for brand owners and retailers. Formed from the merger of four founding brands – Kantar Added Value, Kantar Futures, Kantar Vermeer and Kantar Retail – it boasts over 1,000 analysts, thought leaders, software developers and expert consultants.

OgilvyRED Consulting to launch in India
Ogilvy India has announced the launch of OgilvyRED, a new consulting arm that brings together senior strategic specialists to consult on digital transformation for brands in India. Sonia Khurana, Senior VP at OgilvyRED Consulting, said: “India is one of the largest and fastest growing consumer markets in the world. Rapid adoption of digital by consumers is continuously changing the way they behave and what they expect.”

Creative agency BAR joins WPP
WPP has acquired BAR, a leading independent creative agency in Portugal. BAR will merge operations with Ogilvy & Mather Portugal, with the combined business trading as BAR Ogilvy. BAR was founded in Lisbon in 2009 and its clients include Sagres, Millennium BCP, CUF, Nowo, TAP and Nespresso.
