Wavemaker opens in China, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam

— Wavemaker, GroupM’s new billion-dollar revenue, media, content and technology agency created from the merger of MEC and Maxus opens for business today in 5 countries in the Asia Pacific region – China, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam.
Wavemaker China comprises a 800-strong team across four offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Nanjing, and will be led by CEO Gordon Domlija. Managing Director Ajay Gupte will lead Wavemaker Indonesia in Jakarta with his team of 140. Wavemaker Philippines will be headed by CEO Malu Vasallo in Manila with a team of over 150 staff.
Wavemaker Singapore will open with a team of 60 led by Managing Director Desh Balakrishnan. Rose Huskey will be leading the Global Client Solutions hub, also based in Singapore. Managing Director Arup Bansal will be leading his team of 85 staff for Wavemaker Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City.
Last month (9 November 2017) saw the official launches of Asia Pacific markets Wavemaker Australia and New Zealand as well as Wavemaker India, headed by CEO Peter Vogel and Managing Director Kartik Sharma respectively. The former also has responsibilities overseeing the Southeast Asia region.
The brand mark WAVEMAKER reflects the agency’s heritage, born from WPP and GroupM. The brand, along with a new visual identity, will go live locally as the merger completes in each country, to be finalised by January 2018.
Wavemaker will have offices in 90 countries with over 8,500 employees. Major global clients include L’Oréal, Vodafone, Marriott, Colgate-Palmolive and Paramount.
