Dyson 360 Eye™ and the Dyson Link app – a connected way to clean
18 September, 2014
Dyson and AKQA simplify the home – and enable remote vacuuming
AKQA has partnered with Dyson to develop Dyson Link – mobile software that communicates with The Dyson 360 EyeTM
robot to achieve effective, connected cleaning.
The Dyson 360 EyTM
robot has the most powerful suction of any robot vacuum and is powered by the Dyson Digital Motor. It uses an intelligent vision system to create a map of its surroundings to assess where it is, where it has cleaned and where it has yet to clean.
Dyson Link for iOS and Android utilises machine-to-machine communication to enable people to start, pause or schedule cleaning sessions from anywhere. It also provides a cleaning path map as real-time feedback, along with intelligent user support.
AKQA CEO Ajaz Ahmed said: “We were delighted to have the opportunity to create the future with Dyson, a true pioneer in engineering and design.”
AKQA CCO James Hilton said: “We worked closely to create software that transforms the lifestyle and productivity of the consumer. The work aims to make everyday tasks easier by controlling Dyson’s powerful robotic vacuum cleaner from your pocket.”
The Dyson 360 EyTM
robot and Dyson Link were announced and demonstrated recently in Tokyo
as well as at IFA, the leading consumer electronics and home appliance trade show in Berlin.
Dyson spends £3 million every week on research and development. 2,000 people - one third of Dyson’s workforce - are engineers and scientists. The Dyson 360 EyTM
robot vacuum cleaner is the result of 16 years and £28m worth of intensive R&D by a team of more than 200 Dyson engineers. Dyson has invested a further £150 million in the development of the Dyson Digital Motor.
AKQA is the ideas and innovation company that uses the imaginative application of art and science to create ideas, products and services.
