Safaricom emerged top social media influencer at the 2014 MSK Awards

NAIROBI, KENYA — Our client Safaricom, the leading telecom services provider in Kenya, for the third year running, has been recognized for their efforts on social media at the Marketing Society of Africa (MSK) Awards.

MSK, which started as the Advertising Society of Kenya in 1962 and later became the Marketing Society of Kenya, is responsible for empowering and regulating the marketing industry by creating policies that govern the industry. It provides a platform for interaction and self-regulation for practicing marketers.

The 2014 MSK awards took place on Friday, 14th November at an elegant gala dinner held at the Carnivore Restaurant grounds in Nairobi with the theme ‘Celebrating Brands and Country’. This dinner was one of the biggest event in the Kenyan marketing industry, bringing together practicing marketers from across all segments.

This year’s winners were selected by a panel of judges picked from various sectors in the industry. Safaricom, having scooped four awards this year in the SOMA Awards, emerged as the top social media blogger/influencer in the MSK Awards.

This comes in the backdrop of impressive strides taken by Safaricom in the use of social media. The Telco has remained amongst the top ten socially devoted brands globally according to Social Bakers – just 5% of global brands are socially devoted on Facebook. This has been facilitated by their unrelenting efforts to provide customer care, reputation management and driving engagement.

The recognition of our client at the Awards bolstered Squad Digital’s position as the leading digital agency in the region.
