Ogilvy UK wins Chartered Institute of Marketing Women in Marketing Company Award

— Ogilvy & Mather Group UK has won the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) 'Women in Marketing Company Award 2014’. The award recognises the company that is best set up to encourage and foster female leadership in the Marketing industry. The Wimawards were founded in 2010 and the company category added in 2012. Diageo and Burberry were previous award winners.
, Chief Executive Officer, Ogilvy & Mather Group UK, was presented with the award last night, Tuesday 4 November, at an awards ceremony held at the Ham Yard Hotel in Soho, London.
Collecting the award, she said: “We are proud to be a company where women and men from a diverse range of backgrounds can thrive, and will continue to make this a priority. 54% of the people who work for us and 35% of our CEOs are female and we have made an ongoing commitment to improving the lives of these women at work, actively supporting their development and career progression to leadership roles within Ogilvy. I can personally vouch for this, having had eight promotions in 14 years, two during my two maternity leaves and a great deal of support along the way. It is now my duty to make sure that all the other women here have similarly rewarding careers.”
The Women in Marketing Awards were founded in 2010 by Ade Onilude as an extension to the Women in Marketing Conference which she set up in 2004. Ade is a member of the CIM; she conceived and created the awards as a volunteer, alongside her demanding role in the luxury retail sector.
Ade said: “The Wimawards company award was created to recognise companies that have actively supported the development and establishment of women in senior marketing leadership roles in the organisation. Ogilvy & Mather UK doesn’t just pay lip service to this cause. It has a number of women in senior leadership roles and a clear strategy and plan to increase that number via innovative initiatives. It is a great example to be celebrated in the communications sector.”
