NEW YORK –– Sudler & Hennessey, one of the leading global healthcare communication networks, is lending its support to Colon Cancer Awareness Month through a number of projects for our clients who deliver important therapeutic options and advances in oncology, including colorectal cancer.

In line with the efforts of colon cancer advocacy groups, Sudler is providing support to clients by developing hospital displays emphasizing disease awareness and the importance of screening, designing educational posters, and donating time to help with advocacy group efforts. In addition, Sudler employees are demonstrating their support through the “Dress in Blue” campaign, and by participating in the 5k Fight Colon Cancer Virtual March and a Sudler fund-raiser. Donations will be made to the Fight Colorectal Cancer advocacy group.

According to Rob Rogers, Co-CEO, the Americas, “This potentially life-threatening disease affects the lives of so many people, including many whom we know. In an effort to create some ‘noise’ around this disease, we suggested that branded whoopee cushions be developed as a memorable, innovative way to drive internal awareness within client teams. Sometimes simple ideas turn out to be the best, and we received such great feedback that we decided to adopt the idea here at Sudler and distribute them to our staff.”

“Working with clients in this area often becomes a personal mission to find the best communication tools to expand disease awareness. We are proud to stand with our clients to raise awareness about this important disease,” stated Louisa Holland, Co-CEO, the Americas.

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women in the United States, and the overall lifetime risk of developing colorectal cancer is about 1 in 20. Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States and is expected to account for approximately 50,310 deaths during 2014.
