Nokia Tweet: Imitation is the Best Form of Flattery

NEW YORK — Wunderman is making big waves with big brands on the creative front around the world, with London, New York and Prague leading the way.

The Most Retweeted Brand Tweet Ever” is catching judges’ eyes on the awards circuit. It was awarded a D&AD (Design & Art Direction) “In Book,” second only to the coveted pencil, one of the creative world’s highest accolades.

Dreamed up in London, Team Nokia’s pithy “imitation is the best form of flattery” tweet during the announcement of the colorful iPhone 5C hijacked #Apple worldwide and dominated the online conversation. In just three days, it inspired 40,467 retweets, hundreds of blogs posts worldwide and over 64 million impressions, making it officially the most retweeted brand tweet yet.

It’s also a finalist at the 6th Annual Shorty Industry Awards, where Wunderman global chief creative officer Lincoln Bjorkman served as a judge. The “Most Retweeted Brand Tweet Ever” looks to take home accolades in the “Best Use of Social Media for Consumer Electronics” category, which honors marketing campaigns that have integrated social platforms in creative, meaningful ways.

Wunderman New York’s work for United Airlines made the Shorty’s final cut in “Best Use of Social Media for Customer Service,” an award recognizing companies using social media to provide customer assistance. @United used to suffer from lack of engagement and hence consumer backlash on Twitter, but with Wunderman’s help in developing a social media playbook, response rates are now approaching 100%, with positive sentiment in tweets mentioning the airline increasing more than threefold.

In Prague, Wunderman cleaned up at the Internet Effectiveness Awards (IEA). It has a Grand Prix win for its Ford B-Max campaign, jointly created by Wunderman, Ogilvy and Mindshare. It also scored Gold in the “Auto-Moto” category. Wunderman Prague’s “Saving Energy” website for RWE took home Gold in “Industry and Energy”, while its “Tipsport - Auction” campaign and traffic-building server won Silvers in the categories “Consumer Goods and Services” and “Financial Services,” respectively. The IEA recognizes the most effective online solutions in the Czech Republic, especially those who use digital media to do business in new ways.
