Patrick Xu named CEO of GroupM China

SHANGHAI GroupM China is pleased to announce today the appointment of Patrick Xu as its new Chief Executive Officer. Patrick will begin his new role in early March 2014.

Patrick succeeds Bessie Lee, who moved to WPP earlier this year as CEO China.

As CEO of GroupM China, Patrick will oversee the number one media investment group in China which includes Maxus, MEC, MediaCom, Mindshare, Xaxis and Filmworks. GroupM invests US$7.3 billion (45 billion RMB) in media per annum in China according to RECMA.

Reporting to Mark Patterson, CEO GroupM Asia Pacific and Chairman GroupM China, Patrick will work closely with GroupM China's leadership team to drive and accelerate growth in China and to set the long term growth strategy for the business. Patrick will also take a seat on the GroupM Asia Pacific management board.
 
Patrick brings more than twenty years of extensive sales, commercial and general management experience and skills to GroupM. The majority of his career has been based in China with periods also in the USA and for last three years in Hong Kong. Prior to joining GroupM, he was General Manager, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan at Mondelez International. Patrick started his marketing career at Procter & Gamble in 1992, joined Danone China in 2000 which was later acquired by Kraft Foods in 2008.

Patrick will be based in Shanghai.
