NEW YORK — m/SIX, a fast-growing UK-based media agency that is an equity partnership between creative agency CHI & Partners and GroupM, is coming to the United States.

The agency brings a unique value proposition to the US that has made it one of the fastest-growing media agencies in the UK. It combines the creativity and agility of top London-based independent creative shop CHI & Partners with the buying capability, technology and specialist services of GroupM.

This week m/SIX opened its first North American office in New York and appointed top industry executive David Stopforth as Managing Director. The announcement was made by m/SIX Global CEO Jess Burley.

Stopforth will lead the company’s North America operations, with a key focus of driving strategy across all clients. He is tasked with improving sales efficiency by leveraging insights derived from m/SIX’s data, digital and analytics services. He will report to Burley.

“David’s experience on the client and agency side makes him the ideal person to lead our team in the US,” said Burley. “Clients are challenged today by the complexity in communication channels and the need to always demonstrate ROI. David can help our clients be more agile in overcoming these challenges.”

m/SIX was launched in the spring of 2012 as a joint venture between GroupM and CHI & Partners. The company was initially established in 2008 as mCHI to offer CHI clients a full media service along with creative services but was expanded and rebranded in order to grow the business and target a wider client pool seeking media-only marketing solutions. The agency’s growing client roster includes Campari, Britvic and AM/PM, among others.

Stopforth comes to m/SIX with extensive senior leadership experience. He most recently served as Group Strategy Director at Zenith Media in New York, where he led planning for high profile clients including JPMorgan Chase Card Services, H&M North America, Delta Airlines and PUMA International AG. He was also a key contributor to Liquid, a Zenith consultancy that developed insights and innovation across the agency’s client portfolio.

Before joining Zenith, Stopforth served as head of Media, Strategy and Operations at Reebok International, responsible for development and implementation of the sporting goods giant's Global Brand Marketing initiatives, global budgeting and go-to-market process. The move to Reebok followed a four year stint managing Adidas' award winning global marketing campaigns for some of the biggest sporting events in the world, including the UEFA Euro 2004, Athens 2004 Summer Olympic Games, and FIFA World Cup 2006.

“m/SIX has carved out its own niche in the industry with a unique structure,” said Stopforth. “In blending the energy and spirit of a true creative shop with the power of the most formidable media agency group in the world, m/SIX offers clients a best of both worlds approach. I am really excited to take on this role in the North American marketplace.”

Kelly Clark, CEO of GroupM North America, added: “m/SIX has been a big success in the UK and we’re excited about their prospects in the US. David and his team can count on the full support and resources of GroupM as they build the business here.”
