Ian Sohn rejoins Ogilvy & Mather Chicago to lead digital innovation

Seasoned Marketing Strategist to Develop Key Partnerships and Leverage Emerging Platforms in New Cross-Discipline Role CHICAGO, IL —
Ogilvy & Mather Chicago today announced Ian Sohn will return to the firm as Executive Vice President, Director of Emerging Platforms & Partnerships. A new cross-discipline role for the agency, Sohn will direct and lead the discovery and development of partnerships in the digital/mobile/social space and lead the agency’s practical application of new digital platforms.
Reporting to Nathan Friedman, Managing Director, Ogilvy PR/Chicago, Sohn will work across all Ogilvy disciplines and business units to identify and develop key digital/mobile/social partnerships and emerging platforms. Additionally, he will implement digital training programs for all employees on emerging trends and best practices, mentor junior staff and lead thought-leadership and visibility efforts for the firm both internally and externally.

A brand strategist with proven expertise in digital influence, gaming, mobile, partnerships, marketing and public relations, Sohn has worked across a broad spectrum of firms from boutiques to large agencies and from startups to global corporations, counseling some of the world’s most valued brands. Most recently, he led sales and marketing efforts for early-stage mobile advertising startup, Tap.Me, where he developed first-in-kind mobile advertising campaigns for marketers such as P&G and ConAgra. Before entering the startup world, Sohn was Senior Vice President and Group Director of Ogilvy PR’s 360° Digital Influence Practice, and then Social@Ogilvy after its launch in 2012.

Prior to originally joining Ogilvy PR in 2007, Sohn led global marketing partnerships for multinational communications and information technology corporation Nokia. In this role, he managed strategy and process for partnerships for Nokia’s N series division and oversaw North American marketing efforts for Nokia’s Music and Mobile TV interests. Sohn has also held leadership positions at several boutique digital marketing agencies in New York City. He began his career in corporate communications at Sony Music.
