Sammons named market leader of GCI Health Atlanta as Lind moves to national role

NEW YORK, NY — GCI Health announced today that Kim Sammons has been promoted to Market Leader of GCI Health’s Atlanta Office, while former Atlanta Market Leader Valerie Lind moves to a national role as head of GCI Health’s rapidly growing Corporate Health and Medical Technology sectors. Both will report to Wendy Lund, CEO, who is based in New York.

New Atlanta Market Leader Kim Sammons brings over 15 years of agency, government and non-profit experience. She joined GCI Health in late 2011. Before that, Sammons was at cause alliance firm For Momentum, where she was VP supporting operations, handling efforts such as corporate sponsor summits designed to expand and create partnerships between patient advocacy groups and for-profit organizations. She also has six years of experience at Porter Novelli, where she spent time as Deputy Director of the Atlanta office, making her new role as Marker Leader for GCI Health Atlanta a natural fit. Already heading up GCI Health’s advocacy efforts, Sammons will now be in charge of maintaining momentum at GCI Health Atlanta, one of the largest healthcare public relations agencies in the Southeast. She will oversee that the Atlanta office continues to produce the highest caliber of work, while remaining a positive place to work. “I am thrilled to be leading the Atlanta team, which has grown exponentially in the past six years under Valerie’s leadership,” said Sammons. “I look forward to bringing my unique perspective – from public health to corporate to non-profit – to grow our capabilities and consistently give our teams new and exciting projects while exceeding our clients’ expectations.”

Lind joined GCI Health in 2006, after four years client-side at medical technology company Medtronic, Inc. As EVP and Market Leader, she has played an instrumental role in growing GCI Health’s Atlanta office, which she helped transform to one of the largest healthcare PR agencies in the Southeast. The office’s recent successes include leading a corporate rebranding effort for Endo Health Solutions and the short-listing in the digital communications category in the 2012 SABRE Awards. In her new national role, Lind will be in charge of developing GCI Health’s thought leadership and client base in the rapidly growing Corporate Health and Medical Technology sectors, while continuing to focus on key Atlanta clients. “Corporate reputation is a critical area of focus and enhancement for most companies in the healthcare sector, and there’s a distinct need for medical device companies of all sizes to advance their communications strategies in the midst of significant regulatory change. I’m excited to bring my experience to help lead GCI Health’s national efforts in both arenas,” said Lind.

These changes come at a great time for GCI Health, which is celebrating winning the prestigious SABRE Award for Pharmaceutical Campaign of the Year 2012 – for the second year running – on the back of its 2011 win in the Holmes Report Healthcare Agency of the Year Awards and a 2012 Honorable Mention in the same category.
