David Laloum appointed as new COO at Y&R São Paulo
5 January, 2012
— Marcos Quintela, president of Y&R São Paulo, just announced the appointment of David Laloum as the agency’s Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Laloum, who previously worked as Vice President of Planning, will join Quintela in running the Y&R São Paulo office, and work to further intensify strategic partnerships with clients. Laloum will officially take up the new post on January 15, when his replacement will also be announced.
“We have a strong desire to drive creativity and strategic vision in every single area of the agency. With his promotion, we will count on David’s talent to continue to move us forward,” Quintela said.
Prior to joining Y&R São Paulo in 2006 as Planning Director, Laloum was general director at Wunderman France for three years, and worked at digital agency Orange Art, as well as TBWA Paris and Wunderman New York. At Y&R São Paulo he was promoted to Vice President in 2010.
Under his leadership, the agency began working closely with Creation, and he implemented a series of pioneering planning and branding projects for big brands that make up the agency's client portfolio.
According to Laloum, in addition to providing further structure to the strategic work performed in the last few years, one of his main objectives will be to increase the agency’s capacity for anticipating and proposing different and diverse solutions involving digitalization, multiplatform content and innovation.
“I am very honored to be sharing with Marcos the leadership of such an incredible group of professionals that we have gathered here at Y&R São Paulo,” he said. “In 2011, with the arrival of Rui Branquinho, Flávio Casarotti and Gustavo Gaion, we took an important step towards our goal of finding excellence and creativity in all aspects of our work, while increasingly integrating our various disciplines.”
The agency’s restructuring includes promoting Leonardo Balbi from account executive for Telefônica, TVA and Vivo, to account executive director – where he will be joined by Valeria Ordonhez, Marcia Kuperman and Alessandro Cardoni. For Quintela, the agency’s structure is being planned to strengthen Y&R São Paulo’s role as the clients’ strategic partner, with added-value thinking in all areas.
“Frequently reassessing our organizational structure helps us improve the services for our clients. That is extremely important in a market that changes at an impressive rate,” he said.
In 2011, Y&R’s revenue increased 17 percent over the previous year, a number that exceeded the initial projections by two percentage points. According to Quintela, this was attributed to the growth in the clients, including winning some key accounts at the end of 2010 – such as the Elo card and BoheringerIngelheim. In 2012, the agency also won Alelo (former CBSS) and Hopi Hari. More about David Laloum
