MEC is the only media agency to be awarded 3 stars in the prestigious Best Companies league tables

MEC, a leading media agency,, has today won 21st place in the highly prestigious The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For 2012.

Building on its successful entry into the league table in 68th position last year MEC has gained 47 places to take the mantle as the highest ranking media agency in the UK for the second year in a row. In addition to this MEC has become the only media agency to be awarded the 3 Star Status Accreditation, the highest accolade awarded by Best Companies.

The 2012 process saw 1,082 companies applying to achieve a ‘star status’ with just 113 of these companies achieving 3 Star Status, split between small, medium and large organisations. Based on staff feedback, organisations receive a Best Companies index score which then determines the star rating compared to a fixed standard.

The judges recognised MEC’s growth from its first appearance in last year’s survey and particularly credited successes in the following areas garnered from the agency-wide employee survey at the end of last year:
  • Following last year’s debut in 68th position in The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For, 99.5 per cent of staff said that MEC has established itself as a great employer in its annual employee survey
  • 89 per cent of staff said their managers helped them fulfil their potential whilst 88 per cent said that MEC in general made them feel like a valued member of staff
  • 84 per cent of staff also said that they felt they had a positive future at the agency with a clear sense of career development
  • The survey recognised that 84 per cent of staff felt a strong sense of support and encouragement within MEC to take more risks and be brave with decision-making
Sarah Hennessy, Deputy Managing Director, MEC, commented: “This is a wonderful accolade for MEC as we continue towards our goal of becoming the best agency to work at in the UK. The award recognises the significant contribution made by our people into creating a positive and defining culture that we can all be very proud of.”

Clare Alger, People & Culture Director, MEC, commented: “It’s a fantastic result to have significantly improved our ranking as one of the top 100 companies in the UK to work for and to have been awarded the highest 3 Star Status. It’s testament to the energy we’ve invested in creating industry leading people practices which make a real difference to our people and their passion for working at MEC. I’m thrilled with the result.”
