Accomplished Brand Builder Tapped to Lead One of Germany's Largest Agencies
— David Patton, President and CEO of Grey Group Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), today announced that Dickjan Poppema, 49, has been appointed CEO of Grey Germany, effective immediately, based in Dusseldorf. Uli Veigel, who has led the agency with
since 2004, will assume a new global role in 2013, reporting to James R. Heekin, Chairman and CEO of Grey Group.
Grey Germany ranks among the largest and most awarded agencies in the country serving such blue-chip clients as Procter & Gamble, GlaxoSmithKline, Allianz, SEAT, Karstadt and Deichmann with capabilities across the whole communications spectrum.
Dickjan Poppema is a renowned brand builder who brings more than two decades of experience on the agency and client side at BBDO Dusseldorf, Leo Burnett Frankfurt, TUI and Kraft Jacobs Suchard.

Dickjan Poppema has most recently served as a Management Consultant for btr Consulting in Frankfurt, after spending two years as the CEO of independent agency, Wensauer & Partner.
Poppema joined BBDO Dusseldorf as Managing Director in 2003 and was promoted to CEO in 2004. During his six-year tenure, the agency flourished, growing its client base, revenue and profits. The agency's creative reputation excelled under his leadership reaching number three in Creative Rankings in 2007.
Poppema became Client Services Director at Leo Burnett Frankfurt in 1999, winning significant new business and quadrupling the staff. Prior to Burnett, he was Marketing Manager at TUI where he launched the first money-back guarantee in packaged holidays for the travel company.
A native of the Netherlands, he began his career at Kraft Jacobs Suchard Bremen in 1990, rising to the post of Marketing Manager. He holds an MBA in International Business. Contact
