GroupM names Ari Bluman first Chief Digital Investment Officer for North America

NEW YORK — Ari Bluman, an innovative digital media expert with 15 years of wide ranging experience in technology and media operations, today was named Chief Digital Investment Officer for GroupM North America, a new position.

Bluman’s expertise includes extensive work in all digital media arenas including search, mobile, display and video. He joins GroupM from Real Media Group, a business unit of 24/7 Media, where he has served as President, North America, since 2008. At Real Media Group, Bluman was responsible for North American business development, ad operations, sales, and client services. Like GroupM, 24/7 Media is a WPP company.

In his new role, Bluman will lead and coordinate GroupM’s strategy of securing outstanding digital media value for clients and oversee the company’s evolving relationships with key media company partners across all inventory categories. He will report to GroupM Chief Investment Officer Rino Scanzoni.

“Ari’s job is to synchronize and direct our agencies’ investment leaders in North America and harmonize our approach to the markets in both inventory and the data which informs our investment strategy for individual clients,” Scanzoni said. “At its core, our mission is to fully leverage our scale to benefit our clients in all areas of digital trading.” GroupM agencies include Maxus, MEC, MediaCom and Mindshare.

Scanzoni added that Bluman’s appointment reflects the rapidly growing role that digitally delivered media is playing in the business success of clients at all four agencies.

Prior to being named President at Real Media Group, Bluman held several positions of increasing responsibility since joining 24/7 Media in 1997. These included Senior Vice President, North American Sales and Operations; Vice President, Distribution and Operations; Vice President, Direct Solutions; Vice President, Direct Marketing, Inside Sales and Email Brokerage, as well as an Account Executive.

Before joining 24/7 Media, Bluman was Vice President of Sales at Now Marketing, Inc. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in political science.
