Y&R amongst top 5 creative agencies in the Philippines

MANILA — Y&R Philippines has been named one of the top 5 creative agencies, against very stiff competition, in this year's Philippine Agency of the Year Awards. This follows significant success at the Kidlat Awards in May of this year. At the recently-concluded Agency of the Year Awards, all agencies were judged on each office’s body of work. The jury was composed of the ECDs and CCOs of the major networks, including BBDO,TBWA\, DM9, Saatchi's, Leo Burnett, O&M and Lowe.

Much of Y&R Philippines’ best creative work this year was awarded in May 2012 at The Creative Guild of the Philippines' Kidlat Awards. The agency brought home 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 4 Bronzes at the ceremony held in Boracay.

Gold (Digital) - Nokia ‘Taxi Meter App’
The Taxi Meter app was created for Nokia Smartphones to reduce taxi meter fraud in Manila by using GPS to countercheck the fare being charged to the commuter. It enables users to report the fraud to the authorities. Unlike other taxi apps, it doesn't just give a hypothetical computation of the expected fare to one's destination--the Nokia Taxi Meter App works in real time: start it when your taxi ride begins. When you reach your destination, check the fare on the taxi meter against the one on the app, and see if you're being overcharged.

Two Bronzes - (Poster, Public Service; Design, Public Service) - Department of Health 'Anti-Dengue Poster'
Dengue fever is now ranked as the most deadly mosquito-borne viral illness in the world, and more than 100,000 people in the Philippines contract the disease every year. The Department of Health sought to remind people how to prevent the spread of dengue by distributing posters that people could take away and display in their homes. But these were no ordinary posters, printed with mosquito-repelling Citronella, the poster actually drives away the dengue-causing insect. Brought home, the poster helps keep households safe from dengue.

Bronze (DM) - Atelier Almario 'She Said, She Said'
In the run-up to launch of interior design make-over series ‘She Said, She Said’, the initiative looked to convince advertisers to support the show. The assignment was to create an info kit for possible sponsors or their media agencies. In keeping with the show’s interior design theme, small tins of paint were included in the kit – the colour’s names: Pistachio Green, Cashew Yellow, Almond Brown and Pumpkin Orange offering clues that the contents were in fact tasty tidbits, with the tagline ‘Snack on colourful ideas from the design divas.’ More importantly, in explanation of the show’s concept, sponsorship rates and packages were printed on the paint tins’ labels.
