Cohn & Wolfe’s Stephanie Howley first HR executive named to PRWeek’s 40 Under 40

1 August, 2012

Award Recognizes PR Industry’s Top Talent

NEW YORK — Stephanie Howley, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, North America, has been named to PRWeek’s “40 Under 40,” – becoming the first HR professional included in the annual ranking. As one of the industry’s most influential communications awards, the list honors thought leaders under the age of 40 whose innovative work reflects the best of the PR industry. Her selection marks the fifth consecutive year that Cohn & Wolfe has been represented on the list.

“I’ve never seen any HR leader make the kind of impact that Stephanie has made at Cohn & Wolfe,” said Donna Imperato, CEO of Cohn & Wolfe. “From the ideas and energy she brings to our organization to the incredible talent she is able to attract and develop, Stephanie has helped shape Cohn & Wolfe’s culture into one of the industry’s best. She embodies the principles of strategic HR and I look to her as one of my most critical partners and advisors in our business. I am incredibly grateful to have such a strong partner leading our HR function.”

Commenting on Howley, PRWeek’s editors said: “Stephanie Howley is the beating heart of global marketing communications firm Cohn & Wolfe. She has helped make the WPP agency a top employer, bursting with some of the best talent in the business. Perhaps one of her biggest successes to date was dealing with the merger of C&W and GCI Group, a monumental task. But Howley rose to the challenge. Within its first six months the merged organization won new business with three Fortune 15 companies. She has also played a key role in training and development, recruitment, and high levels of staff satisfaction.”

Howley, 37, has more than twelve years of Human Resources experience and serves as a business partner and member of the executive team at Cohn & Wolfe. Reporting to CEO Donna Imperato, Howley contributes to Cohn & Wolfe’s overall strategy and operations with a focus on talent acquisition and employee development. Her responsibilities include staff management strategies, compensation and benefits, organization development, diversification, employee relations and training and leadership development. She is one of the most recognizable HR leaders in the industry, serving as Chair for the Council of PR Firm’s HR Roundtable and as a board member of The LAGRANT Foundation, a nonprofit with a mission to increase the number of ethnic minorities in the fields of advertising, marketing and PR. She is a frequent speaker at industry events and often quoted by industry trades as an expert in a range of HR issues. Stephanie’s many contributions led to Cohn & Wolfe being recognized on Ad Age’s Best Places to Work list two years in a row.
