Mindshare North America name Scott Berwitz as corporate communications director
5 April, 2012
— Mindshare North America today named Scott Berwitz Corporate Communications Director, responsible for leading the company’s external communications efforts across the U.S. and Canada.
The announcement was made by Antony Young, CEO, Mindshare North America. Berwitz succeeds John Wolfe, who was named Director of Communications for Mindshare parent GroupM in 2008 and has held both positions since that time.
“Scott’s credentials are of the highest caliber, and he brings us a wealth of experience working in the media industry as a longstanding public relations and corporate communications professional,” Young said. “He is essentially serving as our ‘Chief Story Teller’ communicating the Mindshare narrative and showcasing what we are most proud of…our work and our talent.”
Berwitz’s responsibilities include developing and leading Mindshare’s overall public relations strategy. He is also charged with heading up Mindshare’s strategic external communications efforts including spearheading media relations and securing profiles and executive bylines.
Mindshare is one of four global WPP media agency networks within GroupM, along with Maxus, MEC, and MediaCom.
Prior to joining Mindshare, Berwitz served as Director of Corporate Communications at Horizon Media from 2010-2012. In that role he was responsible for leading and executing public relations efforts for the largest independent media services agency in the world, including press coverage, speaking engagements and awards submissions.
Berwitz has an extensive background in public relations, having worked at several PR agencies including Padilla Speer Beardsley Public Relations where he developed and led strategic public relations campaigns for a number of business-to-business clients. He also played an integral role in the company’s new business initiatives. Before that, he served as Senior Account Executive at KCSA Strategic Communications.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis and currently resides in Manhattan.
