MEC wins Henkel Australia media account

SYDNEY — MEC has won the Henkel media account, following a pitch against the 10-year incumbent OMD. OMD and MEC share the Henkel global agency roster, and pitched against each other for the Schwarzkopf account in Australia and New Zealand.

Peter Vogel, Chief Executive Officer of MEC, said: “The pitch was a very detailed and rigorous process. It included two strategic case studies and a detailed media buying exercise. The win is an endorsement of MEC’s strength and capabilities in FMCG. We look forward to working closely with Schwarzkopf to drive their business growth in the Australian market.” MEC also won the account in New Zealand.

The appointment becomes effective from 01 December 2011. Schwarzkopf, part of the Henkel stable of brands, spent $6.4 million over the past 12 months in Australia, according to Nielsen.

This is MEC’s second win against OMD this year, with the GroupM agency winning the $22 million Allianz Australia media planning and buying account from OMD in June.
