Burson-Marsteller appoints Mayang Schreiber CEO and Market Leader in Indonesia

17 November, 2011

SINGAPORE — Burson-Marsteller, a leading global public relations and communications consultancy, today announced the appointment of Mayang Schreiber as CEO and Market Leader of its rapidly growing Indonesian operation. She will be based at the firm’s expanded new Jakarta office and report to Bob Pickard, President & CEO of Burson-Marsteller Asia-Pacific. Schreiber, an Indonesian national, succeeds Daisy Primayanti, who has decided to depart the firm to pursue other interests.

With 14 years of communications experience in Indonesia, Australia, and the United Kingdom, Schreiber joins Burson-Marsteller from IndoPacific Edelman, where she was vice-president and leader of several teams in areas such as corporate, technology and healthcare communications. Her work was focused on strategic counsel, stakeholder engagement, PR program planning and implementation for multinational companies and organizations.

“Mayang is one of the foremost Indonesians in the world of public relations, and we are delighted that she will be taking our team to the next level in one of Asia’s most exciting economies,” said Pickard. “Our objective is to be the premier international communications firm in Indonesia and we look forward to accelerating our business momentum in this strategically important country.”

“Indonesia is such a dynamic emerging market, traditional approaches to communications are no longer enough to meet the challenge of rapid economic growth within a constantly changing commercial context,” said Schreiber. “Evidence-based communications, which is Burson-Marsteller’s modern approach, plays a pivotal role in building brands and adding meaningful and measurable value. I’m delighted to be joining the Burson-Marsteller family and look forward to working in partnership with our clients to achieve their business objectives.”

Prior to joining IPE, Schreiber held key positions at Brisbane-based consultancies, managing clients in the areas of health, telecommunications, energy and community engagement. She was also the Marketing Communications Manager of the Ethical (Rx) Department for Roche Indonesia. Earlier, she worked as a PR consultant based in London and she has also served at Ogilvy PR Indonesia where she handled a range of clients in the financial, technology and health care industries. She is one of the founding members of the Indonesian PR Practitioners Group, started in 2009.
