CERVILENZ INC. TAPS GCI HEALTH TO BUILD AWARENESS OF MEDICAL DEVICE THAT IDENTIFIES PREGNANT WOMEN AT RISK OF PREMATURE BIRTH

NEW YORK — GCI Health, a leading specialty healthcare public relations agency, has been selected by Cervilenz Inc. to increase awareness of the company’s obstetrics device that measures cervical length and helps assess the risk of premature birth.

GCI Health has been tasked with U.S. communications support for Cervilenz Inc. and will conduct media outreach highlighting the CerviLenz® device as an easy way for all pregnant women to have their cervix measured more than once during pregnancy without ultrasound. The work kicks off in November with Prematurity Awareness Month and extends through multiple channels and partnerships to deepen women’s understanding of the importance of talking to their doctor or midwife about cervical length measurements.

“GCI Health brings expertise from many angles with years of demonstrated success serving a diverse client roster,” said Dean Koch, President, CEO, and co-founder, Cervilenz Inc. “Partnering with an agency who knows how to leverage strategic communications to empower both health care professionals and patients is an exciting step forward on our journey to make a difference in the world of prematurity.”

Prematurity is a public health epidemic, and the foremost cause of infant morbidity and mortality. In the United States alone, one in eight infants is born prematurely each year, resulting in $26.2 billion in healthcare and related costs. The CerviLenz® device can be used easily at prenatal visits to help determine if a pregnant woman’s cervix is shortening too soon, putting her at a higher risk for an early delivery that may have tragic consequences.

“Educating women and expectant mothers on the connection between cervical length and premature birth is crucial. GCI Health is proud to have the opportunity to increase awareness of CerviLenz® and alert women to this simple and important device,” said Wendy Lund, CEO, GCI Health. “Working with Cervilenz Inc. reinforces our commitment to educating women about options to improve the health of their families and aligns with our focus on proactive communications in the constantly evolving field of women’s and reproductive health.”
