Martha Raupp joins Burson-Marsteller as Technology Director

25 May, 2011

SYDNEY — Burson-Marsteller Australia (B-M), a leading Australian public relations and communications consultancy, today announced the hire of Martha Raupp as Director of the growing Technology team.

Martha joins the expanding team at B-M from IBM where roles included Marketing Manager in the Global Business Services division, and Communications Leader for two of IBM’s largest accounts – Westpac and BHP Billiton.

Martha has nearly 20 years global experience in Marketing, Communications, Business Development and Consulting, both in an in-house and agency capacity, and has lived and worked in the US, Japan and Australia.

Prior to IBM she worked for two years at Avoga as Marketing Manager and at The Food Group Australia, as General Manager – Market Strategy & Operations.

“Our team is experienced and enthusiastic, and keen to continue providing service excellence to our clients. With Martha’s leadership across the full spectrum of marketing and communications, plus her ability to develop new business with results-oriented ideas, the team will be even better prepared to take clients to the next level,” said Brian West, Market Leader of B-M Australia.

Martha Raupp said, “As a full-service firm with a fantastic team and long-standing clients, B-M has been a quiet achiever in recent years, and rather than make radical changes, I simply want to make sure the market knows the breadth and depth of experience it offers, and that employees get the opportunity to grow and develop their skills.

“From my very first meeting I could sense the dynamic and creative nature of B-M and the passionate team behind it. B-M gets the comms/marketing linkage, B-M gets the importance of brand, and B-M gets digital. B-M brings together all of these areas to meet a client’s business goals, and I hope to shed light on these areas,” Martha said.

From 2002 to 2005 Martha was Corporate Affairs & PR Manager at Apple, based in Sydney. Prior to that she worked in PR consultancies for six years, both in Tokyo and Sydney, working across healthcare and consumer clients and technology clients including 3Com, Borland, Hitachi Data Systems, CorVu, Ericsson, NEC and i2 Technologies.

Martha has an MBA from Macquarie Graduate School of Management and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Professional Ethics from UNSW.
