FITCH puts Beijing on its map

Global design consultancy FITCH today announced the opening of its first office in China. The 12th office in its international network, the new office in Beijing embeds the design consultancy’s position as the leading global branding network specialising in retail design.

The China office will service existing clients such as Nokia and Dell, as well as new clients in the buoyant Chinese market.

Lois Jacobs, CEO for FITCH, says, “With the rapid growth of China, FITCH has been considering ways to better service and partner with our clients in this territory. While FITCH has been working with international and local clients such as Dell and Sundan in China for some time now, it makes sense to be closer to the market with a dedicated team on the ground. Chinese retail is very exciting right now and is changing very quickly. Our local presence will enable us to respond more swiftly to local market demand and to provide better insight into Chinese consumer preferences.”

Existing client John Fei, Chairman of national electronics retailer Sundan in China says, “We very much welcome FITCH’s entry and commitment to China. We have found that FITCH’s customer-centric approach to retail has added unique value to our business. Their focus on the principles of the customer journey and their understanding of shopper behaviour have helped us deliver meaningful solutions to our customers. The Sundan store at Mix C mall in Shenzhen which features the new FITCH design scheme has seen an 18% increase in sales for the 12-month period to January 2011.”

Ian Bellhouse, Managing Director for SE Asia & Greater China, will lead the new operations.

FITCH has strong growth plans on the agenda: FITCH Beijing follows the agency’s recent expansion into Delhi, affirming their Indian presence alongside an established studio in Mumbai. This month also sees the opening of FITCH in Jordan, adding to the agency’s presence in Doha, Dubai and Kuwait, consolidating FITCH’s leading position in the Middle East.
