Tourism boost ahead as 2M Brits plan to descend on London for Royal nuptials

LONDON — With less than two months to go until the Royal Wedding a survey by Out of Home media agency Kinetic Worldwide reveals more than a third (34%) of Londoners and a quarter of the UK (23%) are excited about the upcoming nuptials.

The latest Kinetic Panel survey showed 14% of Londoners will travel into central London for the 29th April event which will draw an extra 2.3m visitors to London from around the UK as a whole.

The wedding, which will come just days after Easter, is set to be great news for the country’s tourism as almost four million people anticipate visiting UK attractions across the two consecutive bank holiday weekends.

1 in 5 Britons will take extra time off around the period - and 1 in 4 Londoners - and 10% will travel within the UK. Meanwhile 7% anticipate using the opportunity to take a holiday outside the UK.

Kinetic conducts regular online panel surveys to gauge how seasonal and one-off events will affect Britain on the move, in turn advising advertisers how this highly active audience can best be reached.

With many councils announcing that there will be no charge for people wishing to close streets for Royal Wedding parties and many pubs and bars being given permission to extend their opening times it promises to be a period of national excitement.
