Mindshare name Richard Lawrence Leader of Business Strategy & Services

— Richard Lawrence, a marketing and agency executive with extensive experience in strategic development and client consulting, today was named Leader, Business Strategy & Strategic Services, for Mindshare North America.
The announcement was made by Phil Cowdell, CEO of Mindshare North America, who added that the role is a new position and the appointment is effective immediately. Lawrence will report to Cowdell.
“Richard brings to Mindshare an established track record of strategic development resulting in sales growth,” said Cowdell. “In particular, his broad expertise in research, interpreting data, and client consulting will help us better identify and understand our clients’ business needs and strategies and improve the way we frame our media and marketing communications solutions around these needs.”
Mindshare is one of four global WPP media agency networks within GroupM, along with Maxus, MEC, and MediaCom.
In his new role, Lawrence will focus on key client engagements and seek to develop more systemic, data fueled, analytics-based initiatives that drive marketing effectiveness. He also will review and help evolve the agency’s offering across business planning and related strategic services, including analytics, research, technology, and infrastructure, to fully maximize the impact of these key capabilities.

Lawrence most recently worked at IBM Global Business Services in New York as Partner, Business Analytics and Optimization, Global Leader. In that role he was responsible for creating industry strategy, developing new consulting and software offerings, assessing market and competitive conditions and establishing IBM’s future vision of the industry.
He has an extensive background in research, corporate strategy, analytics, marketing effectiveness, process re-engineering and leveraging technology. At IBM Consulting he worked as a partner and global leader in business analytics and optimization, developing new consulting and software offerings, assessing market and competitive conditions, and helping to establish IBM’s future vision of the industry.
Prior to IBM Lawrence held consulting roles across a range of world-class businesses; he was an EVP at Analytics Partners in NY, a partner at Accenture and Anderson Consulting (in the U.S. and Europe), and VP at Information Resources Inc. (U.S. and Europe). He began his career in advertising in Colorado and later earned an MBA at the Wharton School before moving to Texas for brand and product management roles with PepsiCo’s FritoLay division.
