30 September, 2010

MediaCom has named Ian Manning as CEO for South Africa, charged with leading development of the network’s offices in Johannesburg. He joins from ZenithOptimedia International in London, where he was Head of Client Services.

Ian comes to MediaCom with an excellent pedigree having also worked for Mindshare in South Africa and in the UK. In his most recent role, he was responsible for leading ZenithOptimedia’s relationship with Toyota, HTC, Lexus and Electrolux.
He joins on 1 November and will spend the first week working with the global leadership team in London before joining the team in Johannesburg, working closely with managing director Britta Reid and the management team to develop the MediaCom business in South Africa and the sub-Sahara region.

In line with MediaCom’s global growth strategy, Ian’s brief will be to work with the network to ensure South African clients benefit from gold standard products, tools and services, using best practice from other markets to further strengthen the agency's performance.

Additionally, as part of MediaCom’s People First programme, he will continue to grow the company’s talent pool, encouraging a nurturing environment where MediaCom plays an active role in identifying and employing the most talented and motivated staff in the industry.
“Ian is quietly brilliant, fantastically committed and quickly gets to the heart of an issue. He will provide inspirational leadership for our South African office, nurturing some of the best media thinkers in the marketplace. His international experience and solutions-oriented style is precisely what we need to ensure that the best tools from across the network are incorporated into the best-in-class service we offer our clients in this very important market,” says Nick Lawson, CEO for MediaCom Europe Middle East and Africa region.
