Martin Lawson named new Global Data and Insights Director for Maxus worldwide

London-based Exec Will Help Agency Strengthen Unique “Relationship Media” Offering

NEW YORK — Martin Lawson, a media professional with deep experience in both digital and traditional communications, today was named Global Data and Insights Director for Maxus, the rapidly growing GroupM media agency.

Lawson, who is based in London, will report to Maxus Global CEO Kelly Clark and Lindsay Weedon, CEO of Maxus UK. Maxus is one of four global WPP media and marketing agency networks within GroupM along with MEC, MediaCom, and Mindshare.

“I’m very pleased to welcome Martin to the Maxus team,” Clark said in making the announcement. “This is a new position for our agency and we’ve given him a very broad brief that I am confident he has the skills and personality to accomplish.”

Lawson’s responsibilities are wide ranging and include the development of techniques, tools, and consulting solutions for the agency’s global network and its clients. Much of his work will focus on strengthening Maxus’s “Relationship Media” offering, a new media agency model powered by creative media thinking and sophisticated, real-time customer data. He will work closely with Nick Vale, the agency’s global planning director, as well as client leaders and data analysts in key Maxus offices around the world.

Clark said Lawson will also explore external partnerships and alliances for Maxus and will be actively involved with the agency’s clients, especially those who focus on data and digital communications. New business development is also part of his brief.

Lawson, whose appointment is effective immediately, joins Maxus from i-level, previously the UK's largest independent digital agency, where he served as Head of Insight. In that role he led a team of data analysts, researchers, and consultants to understand consumer's online behavior and translate that learning into communication strategies. Prior to that assignment he worked as Director of Analytics at media agency PHD in London.
