Ogilvy PR Worldwide names Paul Hefner Senior Vice President of Public Affairs

— Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide (Ogilvy PR), an integrated global communications firm, announced today that Paul Hefner has joined the agency as a senior vice president of its Public Affairs Practice Group. Hefner is an experienced senior media and political consultant, specializing in issues management, media relations, message development and creating and executing statewide campaigns across multiple platforms, including television, radio, newspapers, direct mail and online. He will be based in the agency’s Sacramento office and advise a variety of state government and political organization clients, including the California High-Speed Rail Authority and California Forward.

Prior to joining Ogilvy PR, Hefner served as a media and political consultant, creating and executing statewide and local media campaigns, including California Forward’s reform proposals and California’s statewide infrastructure bonds (Propositions 1A - 1E). In addition, he previously served as director of communications for Assembly Speakers Herb Wesson and Robert Hertzberg, as well as State Controller Steve Westly. Hefner has extensive reporting and editing experience, previously serving as a political reporter and Sacramento bureau chief for the Los Angeles Daily News.

Hefner will work closely with Ogilvy PR/Sacramento’s government affairs specialty, which launched this past February. He received a bachelor’s degree in History from Occidental College in Los Angeles, California.
