Seasoned Media and Political Consultant Based in Agency’s Sacramento Office SAN FRANCISCO
— Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide (Ogilvy PR), an integrated global communications firm, announced today that Paul Hefner has joined the agency as a senior vice president of its Public Affairs Practice Group. Hefner is an experienced senior media and political consultant, specializing in issues management, media relations, message development and creating and executing statewide campaigns across multiple platforms, including television, radio, newspapers, direct mail and online. He will be based in the agency’s Sacramento office and advise a variety of state government and political organization clients, including the California High-Speed Rail Authority and California Forward.
“With a career that spans California politics and government, as well as political journalism, Paul has an unmatched ability to ‘connect the dots’ where government, policy and media meet,” said Michael Law, Managing Director of Ogilvy PR/West Coast. “We are thrilled to have him on our roster.”
Prior to joining Ogilvy PR, Hefner served as a media and political consultant, creating and executing statewide and local media campaigns, including California Forward’s reform proposals and California’s statewide infrastructure bonds (Propositions 1A - 1E). In addition, he previously served as director of communications for Assembly Speakers Herb Wesson and Robert Hertzberg, as well as State Controller Steve Westly. Hefner has extensive reporting and editing experience, previously serving as a political reporter and Sacramento bureau chief for the Los Angeles Daily News.
“Our clients across California and beyond rely upon the Sacramento office to provide them with counsel and communications support addressing a broad range of state public affairs needs and issues,” added Valerie Vento, Executive Vice President, Ogilvy PR/Sacramento. “They will truly benefit from the experience, the relationships and the insights that Paul has developed, working at the highest levels on some of the state’s most relevant issues.”
“Ogilvy has built an incredible team – here in Sacramento, across the nation and around the world -- and I’m very proud to be a part of it,” Hefner said.
Hefner will work closely with Ogilvy PR/Sacramento’s government affairs specialty, which launched this past February. He received a bachelor’s degree in History from Occidental College in Los Angeles, California. In addition, Hefner is a member of the American Association of Political Consultants and the Sacramento Press Club. Contact
