Millward Brown to extend African network with opening of West African hub

— Millward Brown announced today that it will be opening a West African hub office in Accra, Ghana in June 2010. The West Africa business will be a joint venture between Millward Brown, and Scangroup Limited, the leading sub-Saharan African marketing business, and Millward Brown’s existing joint-venture partner in East and Central Africa.

Millward Brown has seen significant growth across the African continent in recent years, with a fast-growing presence in East and Central Africa, and the West African hub is a continuation of the successful partnership with Scangroup. Millward Brown also has a long-established presence in South Africa which will continue to serve South African-based clients.
Millward Brown West Africa will be headed up by Soumya Saklani as Managing Director, reporting to Tim Smyth, Managing Director of Millward Brown East, Central and West Africa. Mr Saklani is a research executive with 15+ years research experience in Asia and Africa and has previously worked with Millward Brown in Asia on two different occasions in different countries. He brings a wealth of knowledge of consumers in emerging markets and intimate understanding of how Millward Brown can add value to the decision making process of its clients.
