Strong leadership team in place to meet diverse needs of market
NEW YORK —
In a move that signals GCI Health’s growing West Coast client base and offerings, CEO Wendy Lund has appointed a new West Coast senior leadership team. Jim Wetmore has been named West Coast Market Leader and Kristin Cahill has been named Deputy Director. With Wetmore in Los Angeles, Cahill in San Francisco and senior team member Kelly Laban in San Diego, the team represents extensive experience in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, aesthetics and health information technology – ideal for meeting the needs of the West Coast region.
“We are acutely aware of the transformation taking place all across the healthcare industry which needs careful and strategic consideration,” said Lund. ”Our clients have come to rely on access to best-in-the-business professionals like Jim who are fearless in tackling the challenges they face today and tomorrow. Jim, Kristin and Kelly represent a dream team that will set GCI Health apart in the marketplace.”
Wetmore has been an integral part of GCI Health’s success since joining the agency in 2004 and transferring to Los Angeles in 2006 to support the launch of a new breakthrough biologic treatment from a California-based biotech company. For the past six years, he has helped nurture the growth of GCI Health’s key client relationships in diverse healthcare sectors including biotech, pharma, medical devices and aesthetics while leading a team of tenured professionals.
“GCI Health’s West Coast team has the depth of industry knowledge, experience and resources needed to support a Fortune 500 company, yet we are also nimble enough to meet the unique needs of a start-up company bringing its first product to market,” said Wetmore. “I’m looking forward to introducing some of the most innovative companies working in healthcare today to a communications team that has the insights, creativity and capabilities needed to navigate the challenges of our transforming industry.”
Kristin Cahill spent five years in GCI’s New York office working with multinational pharmaceutical companies before transferring to San Francisco in 2007 to expand the organization’s expertise in biotechnology and health information technology. As leader of GCI Health’s Bay Area team, Cahill specializes in translating complex topics into meaningful messages, and elevating innovative treatments, technologies and services that represent an unmet need in healthcare. Kelly Laban has more than 11 years experience in managing FDA approvals, product launches and consumer campaigns, as well as internal and external issues management, including FDA advisory board meetings.
