Ogilvy PR Singapore appoints Shalu Wasu as Director of 360° Digital Influence

- Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide Singapore has named Shalu Wasu as the Director of its 360˚ Digital Influence practice, bolstering its team of communication specialists.
“Shalu brings exceptional qualities and unique experience to our fast-growing Social Media team,” said Thomas Crampton, Asia-Pacific Director, 360˚ Digital Influence, Ogilvy PR. “All of our Social Media practitioners have real-world experience and Shalu's happens to include using Social Media to help his sister win a reality TV program in India last year. Thanks in part to blogs and social media properties created by Shalu, his sister Mona won the US$200,000 top prize in the Indian version of ‘I'm a celebrity, get me out of here’.”

Wasu has been charged with leading Ogilvy PR’s 360˚ Digital Influence consulting team. Part of his remit is to provide business strategies that will help clients engage with their stakeholders in a more effective manner through the combination of social media and public relations best practices. At the same time, he will help to drive the use of social media within Ogilvy PR, and spotlight the practice by driving thought leadership.

Throughout his 10-year career, Wasu has worn a variety of hats ranging from senior management to entrepreneurship. Prior to joining Ogilvy PR, he was the co-founder and director of Tickled Media, which builds and monetizes communities online, as well as provides social media consulting. He also started his own training consultancy, Lifeahoy, conducting marketing, creativity and social media training programs for organizations like National University of Singapore, Singapore Institute of Management and James Cook University. He has also held regional managerial posts in Polaroid Corporation and India’s NIIT Limited.
