The Jupiter Drawing Room makes history at annual Eagle Awards
27 October, 2009
— The Eagle Awards, started in South Africa in 1998 by the Independent Newspaper Group to recognize creativity in print advertising, held its 14th ceremony on 27 October 2009.
The coveted Black Eagle was awarded for only the 6th time in the 14-year history of the competition. It went to The Jupiter Drawing Room (Johannesburg) for its “Famous Faces” campaign for the client CNA Stores. Terry Dale, CNA’s Marketing Manager, praised the campaign in particular for the way it “cuts through convention.”
In picking up the Black Eagle in 2009, The Jupiter Drawing Room (South Africa) adds its 3rd Black Eagle trophy to the trophies cabinet. (The Jupiter Drawing Room (Cape Town) won for Design Indaba in 2005 and The Jupiter Drawing Room (Johannesburg) for Nike in 2001).
The Jupiter Drawing Room (Jhb) becomes the first individual agency office to win the Black Eagle on more than one occasion.
Each year, two respected international advertising practitioners judge the awards. This year’s judges were Tony Hardcastle and Richard Dennison from Abbot Mead Vickers BBDO in London.
