Appointment of Highly-Regarded PHD Executive Signals Ambitious Growth Plan for GroupM Agency LONDON
— Lindsay Weedon has been named CEO of Maxus UK, a new position.
The announcement was made today by Maxus Worldwide CEO Kelly Clark, who said Weedon’s appointment illustrates the agency’s major commitment to the further development of Maxus in the UK. Maxus is one of four global WPP media agency networks within GroupM, along with MediaCom, Mediaedge:cia and Mindshare.
“This is an exciting day for Maxus,” Clark said, adding that Weedon will begin her new assignment in October. “Lindsay is a smart, passionate and ambitious leader. We’re thrilled to have someone with her talent and experience to help us drive Maxus to a new level, both here in the UK and as part of our global management team.”
Weedon joins Maxus from PHD, where she is currently Managing Partner and a member of the agency’s executive board. At PHD she is responsible for several of the Omnicom agency’s largest clients, including Sainsbury’s, the AA, Simple and Cadbury.
Prior to joining PHD in 2003, Weedon ran a design and marketing agency in New Zealand and also worked on the client side of the business as a marketing manager for Ericsson Consumer Products. At Ericsson, she was responsible for the marketer’s advertising, media, public relations, research and sports sponsorships in the UK. She started her career as a media planner for Young & Rubicam.
In her new Maxus role, Weedon will report to Clark and to Nick Theakstone, CEO of GroupM UK. Maxus UK joint Managing Directors Tim Irwin and James Jennings will report to Weedon.
According to Theakstone, Weedon’s track record of delivering integrated media solutions for marketers like Sainsbury’s and the AA was a major factor in her appointment. “Lindsay has proven she can deliver outstanding results for some of the most sophisticated clients in the UK,” he said. “And we know from competing against her that she can be a very potent force in new business.”
Weedon said: “I’m excited about the new Maxus proposition, and the opportunity to shape how we deliver it here in the UK. With the full support of GroupM, I’m confident we can take Maxus to the next level.” ABOUT MAXUS
