MAXUS adds Spain to expanding network

— CICM, a Spanish media agency currently part of WPP, is being re-branded as MAXUS/CICM and will serve as the global media network’s base in Spain, it was announced today.
The announcement was made by Kelly Clark, worldwide CEO of MAXUS, which is part of GroupM’s family of media agencies that includes MediaCom, Mediaedge:cia, and Mindshare.
Clark noted that Spain is the second new market to join the growing MAXUS network since his appointment late last year—BJK&E joined the network in the U.K. in December. New offices in other European markets are expected to join the MAXUS network in 2009.
“Spain is one of the most important media markets in Europe,” said Clark. “It is essential that we have a strong MAXUS agency there to achieve our global growth targets. CICM is an entrepreneurial agency with a terrific reputation for creativity, accountability and client service. We’re delighted they will join our growing network.”
Clark, who previously served as CEO of GroupM EMEA, re-located to New York in November to lead development of the global MAXUS network. He said CICM would be re-branded as MAXUS/CICM and officially become part of the network immediately. He added that CICM’s current management structure would remain in place and the agency will continue to be led by General Manager Carmen Novo.
Madrid-based CICM was launched in 1986 and is part of the Tapsa Group, which was acquired by WPP in 2007.
“We already work closely with GroupM in media negotiations, and this is a natural next step for us,” said Novo. “Culturally, there’s a great fit between CICM and MAXUS and we’re excited about helping build a new kind of media agency network.”
CICM currently has more than 30 clients, including Fiat Group, El Mundo Newspapers, Colgate-Palmolive, Kodak, Madrid Tourism, and Ono, a leading Spanish telecommunications company. ABOUT MAXUS
