PPR named 2009 Public Relations Agency of the Year

23 December, 2009

PPR: Diana Forrester, Sally Haysom, Richard Lazar and Kirsty PettySydney — Professional Public Relations (PPR), one of Australasia’s most respected consultancies and a valued WPP brand, has been named Public Relations Agency of the Year for 2009 in Australia and New Zealand in the B&T Awards.

In selecting PPR the judging panel highlighted the comprehensive way PPR has addressed the challenges of new media, social networking and digital communications. They acknowledged the unique footprint of PPR – 140+ people in 10 offices across the two countries – enabling their 400 clients to have the right teams, with the right local knowledge, in the right places at the right time.

PPR’s significant growth in difficult economic times was also applauded by the judges. They appreciated that PPR added to its offices in every major capital city by opening new operations in Adelaide, on the Gold Coast and in Newcastle, despite the fragile economy.

The judges also appreciated the intelligent strategic alliances PPR established this year to enhance capability in government relations, change management and community consultation. The launch of PPR SEAL, a dedicated sponsorship, events, activation and leveraging company was seen as a successful diversification.

The judges were excited by the way PPR empowers its people to be part of the creative process, delivering innovation to their clients’ communication programs.

Richard Lazar, CEO, said: “For me, as PPR enters its fortieth year and I enjoy my thirtieth with the company, I was most pleased with the fact that our independently managed culture survey indicated that people who work at PPR are proud of the work they do, enjoy their time at PPR and feel this is a great place to develop personally and build a career.”

Last year PPR was named Australian PR Agency of the Year in the 2008 Holmes Report. “PPR has achieved outstanding results for its clients and maintains long and productive relationships with them. One of the keys to our success has been the creation of specialist teams who are leaders in the areas of Consumer, Healthcare, Information Technology, Public Affairs, Travel and Tourism, Corporate and Finance, Environment and CSR” Richard explained. “PPR’s network opens doors and delivers the relationships that our local, national and multi-national clients depend upon to create leadership and deliver results.”

PPR was originally founded by Peter Lazar in 1970. It has been part of WPP since 2007.
