GCI Group wins PRWeek’s “PR Innovation of the Year” for Dell IdeaStorm
10 March, 2008
GCI Group was awarded PR Innovation of the Year for Dell IdeaStorm, an interactive, crowdsourcing application, at PRWeek’s annual awards gala at Tavern on the Green on Thursday, March 6th.
IdeaStorm is a site for customers to contribute ideas for technology they'd like to see, along with suggestions for current and future Dell products, services, and operations - ultimately challenging the way Dell does business. GCI worked with Dell to develop the IdeaStorm concept, design and build the site, launch the program and moderate ideas submitted.
IdeaStorm is part of a comprehensive digital media strategy GCI developed for Dell that includes 24/7 digital monitoring to seek out and resolve customer issues expressed online, internal and external corporate blogs, digital influencer relations and more.
“IdeaStorm is another milestone in an amazing social media journey for Dell and its customers,” said Paul Walker, President, GCI Digital Media. “GCI is proud of our role in Dell’s social media strategy, and we look forward to further innovation.”
IdeaStorm, to date, has garnered more than 7,500 ideas, 527,094 votes, and 46,801 comments. The site also received positive commentary from leading blogs like TechCrunch, as well as mainstream media coverage in BusinessWeek and PC World. Most importantly, as a result of IdeaStorm, Dell has put more than 30 ideas into action, showing the community's measurable and sustainable impact on Dell's relationship with customers. Contact
