Wunderman acquires independent Designkitchen to boost N.America digital offering

Chicago — Wunderman, the largest marketing services network in the world and part of WPP, acquired Designkitchen, the leading digital and interactive agency in the Chicago/metro area, continuing the agency’s aggressive expand expansion of its digital offering.

The addition of Designkitchen marks an extension of Wunderman’s expansion across secondary markets in the U.S. and abroad. Over the past three years, Wunderman bolstered its strength and size through a measured strategy of acquisition of digital assets in the largest 20 markets around the world.

The agency will continue to operate under the Designkitchen brand, and agency principal and CEO Sam Landers will remain at the helm. Landers will report to Rick Schreuder, Wunderman’s Chicago president.

Together, Wunderman and Designkitchen will deliver powerfully integrated marketing ideas and superior digital experience, ” Schreuder added.

The two offices have already worked together on several initiatives, including Burger King, HON and Butterball. Designkitchen was founded in 1992 by Sam Landers.
