Glen Whelan joins Hill & Knowlton Calgary office

16 April, 2008

Calgary, AB – Hill & Knowlton Canada is pleased to announce that Glen Whelan, most recently assistant managing editor at the Calgary Sun, has joined the Calgary office as an account director.

With an extensive background in journalism in both Ottawa and Calgary, and having recently completed his MBA in crisis and digital communications, Glen will be supporting the company’s extensive base of crisis communications clients, as well as providing strategic counsel and support in financial and corporate communications.

“The media landscape is changing profoundly as a result of emerging technologies,” said Jane Savidant, vice president and general manager of Hill & Knowlton Alberta. “Nowhere is that more evident than in crisis and issues management. As an experienced journalist and newsroom manager, Glen knows how traditional media are both turning to and competing against social media, and how organizations in crisis must work with these tools to disseminate information properly. Glen’s traditional media experience combined with his understanding of social media makes him a natural fit to the H&K crisis team as we continue to study the changing face of crisis communications on a daily basis.”
