Steve Hardwick joins Grey Worldwide as President, Grey New York

Jim Heekin, Chairman and CEO of Grey Global Group, today announced that Steve Hardwick, 44, is joining Grey Worldwide New York, the agency’s flagship office as President, effective in May. He will report to Mr. Heekin.
Steve Hardwick comes to Grey New York from Strawberry Frog, New York, an award-winning creative agency, where he has served as President since 2006.

In his new role, Steve Hardwick will lead the 525-person New York office. He will help set and implement the creative vision for the agency, working closely with Tim Mellors, Vice Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Grey Global Group; deliver Grey’s strategic Brand Acceleration platform and total offering, operating in tandem with Nat Puccio and Suresh Nair, Global Co-Directors of Strategic Planning for the group, and its account management leadership; guide new business efforts and spearhead the recruitment of top talent.

During his twenty-year career, Steve Hardwick has excelled in every major facet of our business: global holding companies, large international agencies and multi-channel creative boutiques with digital at the core. At Strawberry Frog since 2006, Steve recruited a first-rate management team, built a professional agency process and systems to complement its unique digital creative point of view, oversaw the largest accounts, and compiled an outstanding growth record.
Earlier, he spent three years at the Interpublic Group of Companies (IPG) overseeing Bank of America Enterprise, as Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director. This customized holding company model unified the work of more than 50 agencies and 350 professionals to deliver integrated communications across the full spectrum of brand touchpoints and channels.
A big agency veteran, Steve spent five years at Bozell as Executive Vice President, spearheading the Bank of America business, and the Verizon Wireless, Bell Atlantic Mobile account, then the largest telecommunications company in America. During the previous six years, at Bates Worldwide, he served as Senior Vice President, Account Director on three of its largest accounts: Compaq, Hilton Hotels and Miller Brewing Companies’ Genuine Draft and Lite beers. In this capacity, he led global strategy and branding efforts across all national advertising, media and co-op programs and was responsible for building a regional field marketing organization.
This is a homecoming for Steve who began his career with a two-year stint at Grey in 1990 on the Kraft General Foods account.
A Unique Creative Sensibility Sets Him Apart From The Pack
Steve Hardwick is an active member of the arts community. His creative pursuits in film, writing and painting set him apart from traditional agency leaders.
A talented filmmaker, he served as the producer of The Shovel, an independent movie starring David Strathairn, that won the Tribeca Film Festival 2006 Award for Best Narrative Film and top honors from both the Woodstock and Woods Hole Film Festivals for Best Dramatic Short Film.
An accomplished full-back at Youngstown State University, he graduated with a BA in English. He continues to write fiction, short stories, screenplays.
