Grey announces changes to Asian leadership team
28 July, 2005
Mike Amour, Grey Global Group Asia Pacific Chairman/CEO, today announced significant changes to the company’s regional leadership team in China/Hong Kong. Viveca Chan, current Chairman and CEO of Grey Global Group China/Hong Kong, will leave the company by the end of the year to pursue business interests outside of Grey. She will be replaced by Dennis Wong, who joins the company on August 8th as President and CEO of Grey Global Group China/Hong Kong. Wong served as CEO of Leo Burnett’s China and Hong Kong operations from 1994-2004, and prior to that as General Manager and Client Services Director for J. Walter Thompson China, Hong Kong and Canada. His previous experience includes positions with BBDO and TSE Needham.
Amour stated: "Over the last 20 years Viveca’s entrepreneurial talent, passion and ambition have built Grey in China and Hong Kong into a vibrant and highly successful integrated marketing communications business. It is a remarkable achievement. Viveca has expressed a desire to spread her wings beyond Grey for some time, and she has decided that this is the right moment both professionally and personally. She will be greatly missed by her extended Grey family, and we wish her well." He added: "I am thrilled to have Dennis Wong join us. He has tremendous local and international experience. His leadership reputation with clients is first class, and he has a talent-centric management philosophy. On top of that, Dennis has a proven new business record. There is no question he will help build on our success in China/HK, and accelerate it to the next level. This is a very exciting appointment for Grey."
Chan will begin handing over day-to-day management of Grey’s China/HK operations to Wong immediately, with the transition expected to take several months. Both executives will report directly to Amour.
